More about this escape
Sanctuary Resort sits at the edge of one of South Asia's most wildlife-rich national parks, wrapped in riverine forest and open grassland that run deep into Chitwan. There are 8 private villas and 19 deluxe rooms on the property, and every single one opens onto a private outdoor space where you can sit and let the sounds of the forest come to you. The park itself is right outside, and guided activities like jeep safaris, river boat rides, and birdwatching walks take you into it from different angles every day. In the evenings, cultural programs with the local Tharu community and open-air dinners by firelight give the stay a warmth that goes beyond just the wildlife. The kitchen sources its ingredients from nearby farms, so the food you eat every day is as local as the landscape around you.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arriving at the Edge of the Wild
You arrive at Sanctuary Resort to a welcome drink before settling into your room and getting your first real look at the property and everything surrounding it. Lunch follows with dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, giving you an early sense of how the kitchen approaches food throughout the stay. The afternoon takes you into the riverine woodland on a guided nature walk where birds and signs of wildlife appear steadily along the way. Dinner back at the resort closes the first day on a relaxed note with good food and plenty to take in from the hours already spent outside.

Day 2: A Day Full of Wildlife and Culture
Breakfast gets the morning started before the Vulture Restaurant experience, where vultures and raptors gather in open habitat, followed by a jeep drive through Namuha Community Forest, where wildlife and open landscapes make for an exciting few hours. Lunch at the resort breaks up the day before an afternoon birdwatching session in the surrounding farmland, where you encounter a completely different set of species from those seen in the forest. The Tharu Cultural Program rounds out the evening with traditional music and dance under the open sky, and a BBQ dinner brings the day to a satisfying close.

A packed lunch keeps you out in the field for the full five to six hours, so the day never has to stop before it is ready to. Dinner at the resort wraps up a long and rewarding day with a good meal and a comfortable place to rest.

The resort does not offer or support any activities that use elephants. All wildlife viewing happens from jeeps, boats, or on foot, so animals are not disturbed in their natural surroundings.
Community Support
Over 90 percent of the staff live in villages near the property. The kitchen buys all food from nearby farms to help local families and keep the environmental impact low.

About your stay
Sanctuary Resort
Sanctuary Resort is located in the Amaltari region of Nawalpur, on the quieter western edge of Chitwan National Park along the Narayani River in southern Nepal. The area sees far fewer visitors than the eastern parts of the park, which gives the resort a level of calm and privacy that is genuinely difficult to find anywhere else in Chitwan.
